The VX-Xpress (also known as VX-X) is an entry level version of Silver Peak's VXOA product family. It is a free, fully functional Silver Peak virtual appliance, designed to make it easy and cost effective to deploy WAN optimization for single links up to 4Mbps.
With upt to 4 Mbps of optimized throughput and up to 8,000 flows, the VX-Xpress offers the full functions of Silver Peak's VXOA software, which includes:
- Network Acceleration to overcome latency.
- Network Integrity to fix packet delivery issues and deliver Quality of Service.
- Network Memory for deduplication of all IP traffic.
In addition, IPsec encryption comes standard on the VX-Xpress (like all Silver Peak's VXOA products).

The VX-Xpress will look and feel just like the VX-1000 when optimizing a single link. However, whereas the VX-1000 can talk to many different VX, VRX and NX appliances and can be managed by a GMS, the VX-Xpress and can only talk to one other VX-Xpress and cannot be managed by a GMS.
In addition, only 2 instances of the VX-Xpress are possible in a single network. For larger deployments where you need to support multiple Data Centers and branch offices we recommend the VX, VRX and NX products.
